There were many highlights in this storybook season and we bring some of them to you as we look back on some of our accomplishments from last fall:
1. The Merrimack Cardinals (M) cheerleaders advanced to Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL and claimed their first National Championship in nearly 25 years. Kellie Mailloux's Cardinals won the New England Championship as well on their way to the national crown.
2. The Youngsville Hawks (M) cheerleaders also advanced to Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL after winning the New England Championship. The Hawks were led by Kristen Williams and took home a second place finish in an incredibly tough division.
3. The Bedford Jr. Bulldogs (JPW) squad became the first football team to advance to the Pop Warner National Championships in recent memory. The squad led by Jason Dyer reeled off impressive wins over the Old Rochester Bulldogs (RI), Boston Bengals (MA) and New Fairfield Falcons (CT) in claiming the Division 2 New England Championship. They got the butterflies out in a loss to the Michigan City Wolves (IN) in the opening round. The Jr. Bulldogs refused to quit as their offense exploded for 33 points in a second round loss to the Stanley Blue Devils. Bedford capped off their trip by winning the prestigious Brax Spirit Cups Sportsmanship Award for Division 2.
4. The Hampstead Wildcats made their debut at the Pop Warner National Championships as their Mitey Mites competed in this year's exhibition tournament. The Wildcats showed some true grit and toughness as they battled hard against the Cicero Falcons (NY), Valparaiso Vikings (IL) and Carson Ravens (CA).
5. The Bedford Jr. Bulldogs (PW) squad defeated the Portsmouth Patriots (RI) and North County Panthers (MA) before falling to the West Haven Seahawks (CT) in the Division 2 New England Championship game.
6. The Seacoast Titans (JPW) cheeerleading squad placed first at the New England qualifiers and then followed it up with a third place finish at the New England Championships.
7. The Amherst Patriots (JM) cheerleaders placed second at the New England qualifiers and then finished third at the New England Championships.
8. New Hampshire Pop Warner held its 4th Annual Scholastics Banquet at the Crowne Plaza in Nashua, NH on October 13, 2012. The league recognized the achievements of its top student-athletes as 105 children were honored with a luncheon, awards and academic scholarships.
9. New Hampshire Pop Warner Night was held at Fisher Cats Stadium on Saturday, August 25 and it was a rousing success. Football players and cheerleaders were involved in many on-field activites and it proved to be a fun and exciting night for all involved. We will once again be guests of the Fisher Cats on August 18, 2012 for a Sunday afternoon game against the Trenton Thunder, AA Affiliate of the New York Yankees.
10. Kellie Mailloux (Cheer Coach of the Year), Ken Hart (Football Coach of the Year), Cindy Harmon (Female Volunteer of the Year) and Jerry Goodwin (Male Volunteer of the Year) are honored by New Hampshire Pop Warner for their exemplary service to the children in our league.
